FAQ

Click any question to see the answer

What is the difference between Pure Coconut Oil and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?
+
Both are cold pressed and free from additives. The key difference is the source. Long Live Pure Coconut Oil is extracted from coconut copra — dried coconut — which gives a mild coconut flavour and is more affordable. Long Live Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is extracted directly from fresh coconut milk, giving a lighter, fresher aroma and is considered the premium grade. Both contain the same Lauric Acid content of 48.81% and the same nutrition profile.

Is this oil suitable for deep frying?
+
Yes. Long Live Pure Coconut Oil has a smoke point of approximately 175°C making it suitable for everyday frying, tadka, and medium heat Indian cooking. For very high heat deep frying above 200°C, Long Live Pomace Olive Oil with a smoke point of 230°C+ is recommended.

Why does my coconut oil turn solid in winter?
+
This is completely normal and a sign of purity. Coconut oil naturally solidifies below 24°C. Simply place the bottle in warm water for a few minutes or keep at room temperature and it will return to liquid. The quality and nutrition are not affected by solidification at all.

What is Lauric Acid and why is 48.81% significant?
+
Lauric acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid found almost exclusively in coconut oil. Long Live Pure Coconut Oil contains 48.81% Lauric Acid — a direct indicator of purity and quality. Refined or lower quality coconut oils often have a lower Lauric Acid content due to the processing involved.

Can I use this oil for hair and scalp massage?
+
Yes. Long Live Pure Coconut Oil is pure and free from additives making it suitable for hair and scalp massage. Warm slightly and apply to scalp and hair before washing — a traditional Indian hair care practice used for generations.

Is this oil suitable for baby massage?
+
Coconut oil has a long tradition of use in Indian baby massage. Long Live Pure Coconut Oil is free from additives and chemicals. However, we always recommend consulting your paediatrician before using any oil on babies or young children.

Is this oil suitable for people with diabetes or heart conditions?
+
Long Live Pure Coconut Oil contains zero cholesterol and zero trans fat. It is high in naturally occurring saturated fat (91.3g per 100g) primarily in the form of medium-chain fatty acids. For specific dietary advice related to a medical condition, we always recommend consulting your doctor.

Is this oil suitable for keto or low-carb diets?
+
Yes. Long Live Pure Coconut Oil contains zero carbohydrates making it compatible with keto, low-carb, and paleo diets. Always consult your nutritionist for personalised dietary guidance.

How should I store this oil and how long does it last after opening?
+
Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate. The oil may solidify in cooler temperatures — this is completely normal. An unopened bottle stays fresh until the best-before date. Once opened, use within 6–12 months. Always use a clean dry spoon if solidified and close the cap tightly after use.

What does mill direct mean?
+
It means your oil is manufactured and packed directly at SHR Oil Mills in Tirupur — no middlemen, no distributors adding markups, no sitting in warehouses for months. Mill direct means fresher oil, better quality control, and a fairer price for you.
